Old Brown Dog Genetics is a homegrown cannabis operation started by Max in Fairfield County, CT, in 2025. Our company is driven by passion, curiosity, and a genuine love for the plant.

Our approach is simple: keep it personal, keep it authentic, and keep it fun. As the founders, we are dedicated to sharing our love for cannabis and its endless possibilities. Old Brown Dog Genetics isn’t about following trends but about finding the fascinating, unique traits this plant has to offer.

Running the operation is a mix of exploration, dedication, and a deep connection to the process—everything is done with care and attention to detail. It’s not just about growing cannabis; it’s about creating something that reflects the values of simplicity, quality, and the joy of discovery.

The company name came from the light in our life, Brewer. Brewer is our old brown dog. He oversees op-paw-rations at Old Brown Dog Genetics. He’s old enough to retire but loves the work.

New England Lights S1 (seeds)

New England Lights (NEL) was a clone-only cut circulating in Connecticut and the greater New England area in the last couple years. After several successful runs, I decided to self this cut to preserve the line.

Expect some phenotypic variation in this S1 generation. Plants express heavy citrus notes during early to mid-flower and finish with a balanced mix of gas, citrus, and pine. Stretch is vigorous. Plants will typically at least double in height during flower. Harvest window falls between 60–70 days.

Blueberry Lights F1 (seeds)

Blueberry Lights is an F1 cross between Blueberry Sunset (Blazed Genetics CT) and my New England Lights cut (Durban Poison × Northern Lights). Blueberry Sunset adds increased bud size and contributes a rich purple finish late in flower.

Expect moderate phenotypic variation in this generation. Plants show average stretch, typically doubling in size. Early flower is dominated by bright citrus, transitioning into gas, citrus, and subtle berry notes as plants mature. Harvest window falls between 60–70 days.

Our OBD: Brewer

Brewer is more than just the namesake, he’s the heart and soul of Old Brown Dog Genetics. Our 5 year old lab is my loyal sidekick in the garden, always close by as I tend to the plants. He’s happiest on a hike, snuggled up snoring, or...let’s be real...eating anything he can find (food is life).

Clumsy, sweet, and endlessly loveable, Brewer brings the same calm, goofy energy to the grow as he does to every trail we wander. If there’s soil to dig or sunshine to nap in, he’s already there. He'll probably indulge in a soil snack too.
